Basic Maps and Terms
Definitions
- AirCounts = Signal from MAF, Number of MAF Ticks Per Rev.
- Load = Air Flow Per Rev, Approximately numerically equal to Boost in kPa. Converted Load/80 ~= Grams of Air Per Rev.
Besides the normal raw Load, the ecu uses Compensated Loads for some map look ups.- Fuel Map mainly uses raw Load, but under some conditions uses Load IAT&Baro Comp. (The most important factor in deciding this is being in Closed Loop.)
- Ignition Map uses Load Baro Comp if IAT is greater then 77*F, if less then it uses Load IAT&Baro Comp.
- Rev = One complete revolution of motor.
MAF
MAF Size
Used to calculate Load.
Load = AirCounts * MAF Size / 65536
MAF Scaling, Smoothing, and Adder
Used to calculate Injector MAF Compensation, used with other variables to calculate Injector Pulse Width.
Because the MAFs output isn’t linear, the MAF Scaling Table is used to correct it.
AirFlow output is given at different Hz. MAF Adder is added to all these values for total output.
MAF Smoothing Table is multiplied by (MAFScaling[Hz] + MAFAdder), for fine tuning.
